Our 2025 bear watching season in Ucluelet has ended for the year. Our dates for the 2026 bear watching season begin on April 15 and can be booked on the calendar shown.
Visiting our area outside of those dates? We run a variety of fun-filled fall and winter tours from our Tofino location November to February as well as Whale Watching tours that begin in February. You can also enjoy a scenic and relaxing visit to Hot Springs Cove year-round.

Get more out of a day’s adventure! Book a tour package and experience two trips in one day. Journey along the coast towards the open ocean in search of Grey Whales, Humpbacks and other wildlife. Return to the station to switch vessels, before tucking into calm waters, in search of black bears, as they forage for food along the shores.
Please note: To book a packaged tour, you will be prompted to book both a whale and bear tour. Please ensure the time of the tours do not overlap.

Ucluelet Bear Watching Season: Mid-April through September
Departure Times: Vary from day-to-day based on low tide times when bears emerge from the forest to forage for shellfish.
Our Boats: Guests departing from our Ucluelet location will have the choice to book on one of our cabin cruiser vessels or on our Zodiac style boats.

Guests of our Ucluelet bear watching trips will tour along the shoreline of Barkley Sound where we most often view Black Bears. At low tide, black bears emerge from the dense rainforest in search of one of their favourite foods – crab. You’ll get to witness these beautiful animals effortlessly toss large rocks aside as they sniff out their meal. At times, we’ll see mother black bears teaching their cubs how to hunt for food along the shoreline.
In addition to bears, we often enjoy views of bald eagles, seals, & sea lions throughout our journey.
