The whale watching season in Ucluelet runs from March to October and has ended for the year. Our dates for the 2026 whale watching season begin on March 14 and can be booked on the below calendar.

Ucluelet Whale Watching Season: Mid-March to Early-October

Departure Times: Multiple daily departures.

Our Boats: Guests departing from our Ucluelet location will have the choice to book on our comfortable 12-passenger cabin cruisers, or the adventure seekers may choose the excitement of a Zodiac whale watching tour.

What You Will See

Guests of our Ucluelet whale watching trips will tour the waters of Barkley Sound where we most often view Grey & Humpback Whales. The grey whale migration from Baja California, Mexico begins to arrive along the west coast of Vancouver Island in February and continues through late May.

From March through October, we have over 200 ‘resident’ grey whales that stay feeding in our waters. Humpback whales are seen throughout our season, with the most frequent sightings between June and September. We also see Orcas (Killer Whales) throughout the year.

In addition to whales, we often enjoy views of sea lions, eagles, sea otters and other amazing wildlife while on the water.
